About
Angela Ducharme is a member of the Roseau River Anishinaabe First Nation, located on Treaty 1 Territory. Deeply connected to her culture from a young age, she grew up attending powwows and dancing fancy, always feeling connected to her culture through movement and community. Raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba by her late mother and father, Angela’s upbringing shaped her strong sense of identity, resilience, and pride in her Anishinaabe roots.
In 2018, Angela began beading as a way to honor her ancestors and continue her cultural traditions. What started as a personal journey grew into a professional creative practice and entrepreneurial business. Today, Angela is a full time business owner, artist, and jingle dress dancer, committed to uplifting Indigenous representation through her work. She creates across multiple mediums, including beadwork, regalia making and digital artwork. Through her work and research, Angela strives to continue focusing her artwork on traditional Ojibwe designs, celebrating her culture and creating space for modern Indigenous art.
